{Mr. Peiffer}

Face the Challenge...and OVERCOME IT!!!

Let's face it, there are plenty of challenges in our society at this time.  The economy, wars, terrorism, N1H1, global warming, and political infighting are merely a few examples.  Schools also face challenges and pressures such as increased testing accountability, limited resources, reduction in staff, and social problems that filter into schools.  We at Milford Middle School refuse to make excuses or cower from these challenges.  We are going to face them head on and work hard to find ways to overcome them.

Milford students continue to perform extremely well on the PSSA exams.  The following shows the great results for Milford Middle School:
Eighth Grade:
Reading - 84% advanced and proficient
Mathematics - 80% advanced and proficient
Seventh grade: Reading - 87% advanced and proficient
Mathematics - 93% advanced and proficient
Sixth grade: Reading - 80% advanced or proficient
Mathematics - 90% advanced or proficient
Milford Middle School's scores are consistently the best in Upper Bucks County.

Some people may wonder how we are going to meet our challenges.  Milford's vision is to to ensure all students make at least one year's academic growth as well as social growth in a supportive environment of mutual respect.  We motivate students to do their best always.  We teach students the skills and strategies to give them the confidence to tackle difficult tasks.  Milford is also dedicated to teaching the whole student.  We offer many opportunities for students to develop character.  Milford Matters is our character education program that provides lessons concerning six key areas: respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship.  We also use Milford Matters to combat bullying and teach students how to be part of a positive community.  Students have many opportunities to connect to their school through activities, sports, and programs.

Milford Middle School provides a safe, supportive and challenging environment.  This year, our theme of "Facing the Challenge...and Overcoming It" will focus our attention at developing leadership qualities and individual confidence.  We are not satisfied with good enough, and we continually strive to be even better for our students.  Our motto of “Great things happen here every single day” epitomizes our philosophy to constantly improve.  We are dedicated to ensuring that each child is successful in their journey through school and life.

Respectfully,
Derek Peiffer
