Per Capita Tax
Effective Tax Year 2014-The School Board has voted to no longer collect Per Capita Taxes. You will NOT get a Per Capita Tax bill in August 2014.
Per Capita Tax is an Act 511 and 679, flat rate tax, with a maximum tax rate of $5.00 each for a total of $10.00. They are commonly referred to as a "head or residency" tax levied on each adult (18 through 64) within Quakertown Community School District. It has no relationship to employment or earned income. Authority to levy the Per Capita Tax is provided for in The Local Tax Enabling Act.
Each resident of Quakertown Community School District from the ages of 18 through 64 must pay Per Capita Tax. Upon attaining the age of 18 or becoming a resident of Haycock Township, Milford Township, Quakertown Borough, Richland Township, Richlandtown Borough or Trumbauersville Borough, please notify the Census Enumerator at 215-529-2025.

When are Per Capita Tax Notices mailed?
August 1 of each year, Quakertown Community School District Per Capita Tax Notices are mailed.
Per Capita Tax Due Dates
For Tax Notices with a bill date of August 1:
2% Discount Period - Aug. 1 thru Sept 30.
Face Period - Oct. 1 thru Nov 30.
10% Penalty Period - Dec. 1 thru Jan 31.
To avoid the loss of discount or incurring a penalty, the payment and original tax notice must be received by the bank or if mailed the envelope must be postmarked by the post office on or before the due date indicated. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THIS POLICY.
If you do not receive your Tax Notice
Contact the Quakertown School District Tax Enumerator at 215-529-2025, if the tax notice is not received.
Under Local Tax Collection Law (72 P.S. 5511.7), "Failure to receive a tax notice does not relieve any taxpayer from liability for prompt payment of taxes imposed by the taxing district."
Address Changes/Moving out of school district
It is the taxpayer's responsibility to notify the school district of any address change and when moving out of the school district. Contact the Census Enumerator at 215-529-2025.

To apply for the following exemptions from the Per Capita Tax , please contact the Quakertown Community School District Tax Office at 215-529-2025:
  • Full-time student
  • Age 65 as of July 1st
  • Full-time active military service
  • Full disability
  • Practicing clergy
Payment Instructions
1. Make checks payable to: Quakertown Community School District.
2. Payments for the proper amount are accepted and credited when received.
3. A $15.00 charge will apply for any returned check.
4. There are (2) Payment Options:
(1) Mail the Original Tax Notice and payment to:

For a receipt; mail the entire Tax Notice with a self-addressed stamped envelope; the
taxpayer copy will be receipted for you.
(2) Take Original Tax Notice with payment to any office of The QNB Bank in
Quakertown, Coopersburg, Perkasie, Dublin, Souderton, or Pennsburg. The taxpayer
copy will be receipted for you.
We cannot process photocopies of the Tax Notice.

Taxpayer Rights
Taxpayers are entitled to receive a copy of the Quakertown Community School District Taxpayers Bill of Rights at no charge, which is a written explanation of taxpayers rights with regard to the assessment, audit, appeal, enforcement, refund and collection of certain School District Taxes. A copy can be requested by telephone at 215-529-2024, in person between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.on weekdays, or by mail. The address is Quakertown Community School District Tax Office, 100 Commerce Drive, Quakertown, PA 18951.
