I'm Bridget Mortimer and I'm proud to be the Title 1 Reading Specialist at Strayer! I graduated from LaSalle University in 1991 and then earned an M.Ed in Reading in 1996. I continued my education with an M.Ed from Wilkes University in 2000 and this is my 24th year of teaching!! I live in Gilbertsville with my husband, Brent, and our 2 sons, Austin (18) & Evan (12). Austin is a Freshman at Cairn University in Langhorne, PA majoring in Health and Phys. Ed. and Evan is a 7th grader at Boyertown Junior High East.
I like to cook, garden, bike, hike and read in my spare time, and of course, spend time with my kids and watch them wrestle, race dirtbikes, run in cross-country meets and play baseball. One of our favorite things to do is go camping. We didn't get to do a lot of camping this year, but Austin and I went to Spain on a missions trip and myhusband and I got to escape for a week to the Bahamas! I also spend a lot of time with our church youth by teaching the senior high girls Sunday school class and joining in on the Sunday evening youth group activities. We have 2 dogs Ruby and, Rocky and it's a lot of fun to watch these Pomeranians playing together! Who needs TV watching their antics?! Of course, with a 12 year old boy we also have a bearded dragon and a gecko (who likes to escape).I look forward to getting to know and working with the Reading Plus students and 7th grade Reading/Writing Strategies students this year!
