Food Services Director

The Quakertown Community School District has a new Food Services  Director as Nii Tagoe of Chartwells Food Services has replaced Pete Kelley, who retired.

“I’m really excited about being in Quakertown, and serving our school community,” Mr. Tagoe said.

Nii TagoeHis primary focus is to make sure the district is fully compliant with United States Department of Agriculture standards and that students are fed nutritionally sound meals that also taste good.

Mr. Tagoe, who is from Easton, has a degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson & Wales University.
He also has a Bachelor of Arts in hotel and restaurant management from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

He began his career in restaurants and eventually became a chef. Later, he decided to learn how the operations side worked, which eventually led him to Chartwells.

Mr. Tagoe credits his family with his love of cooking. His dad, born in Ghana, and his mom, born in Virginia always had something going on the stove in the kitchen or on the barbecue. His extended family owned a farm in Virginia and after a long day “everyone would be in the kitchen doing their part,” he said. “I always admired my parents.”

Mr. Tagoe said he plans to bring more ideas and food choices to student meals that Chartwells can offer.
