Regulations Concerning Participation in Commencement Ceremonies

All students must be complete in all courses and have successfully completed the necessary credits for graduation in order to participate in the Commencement ceremony.

Completed your Program of Study (24 credits) Due by 5/29
Senior Portfolio Presentation & min of 8 pieces of evidence completed and approved Due by 4/1
Keystone Exam / Act 158 requirements content completed and approved. Due by 5/1
Not accrued unexcused absences in excess of 10% of school days.
Senior Obligations Met - Due by 6/1

All graduating seniors must attend the scheduled senior activities (Cap & Gown Distribution, Senior Strut, Senior Picnic, and Commencement Practice) and be on time. Students who are absent or late for these activities may be excluded from participation in the commencement ceremony by administration.

All students must be properly attired for commencement ceremonies. Boys must wear a shirt with a collar and long pants. No shorts, flip flops, sneakers or high heels are allowed. No additions or decorations may be added to your cap or gown. Only approved stoles and cords may be worn.

Any student who does not adhere to the regulations as stated above or who does not conduct themselves in a responsible manner during the final weeks of school, rehearsal, or during pre-performance staging will not be permitted to participate in the commencement ceremonies. Students who bring any item that would serve to disrupt the ceremony will be excluded from participation. Graduates are not permitted to have cameras, video cameras, or cell phones on the floor during the ceremony.

Excusals

If you wish to be excused from Rehearsal or Commencement, a written excuse signed by your parents must be presented to Mr. van ’t Hoenderdaal no later than Monday, June 1st, 2026. (A parent or guardian must sign the excuse regardless of your age.) If you are not attending commencement, you do not have to attend the rehearsals. The commencement participation list will be finalized on Monday, June 1st, 2026 - No changes will be permitted after that date.

Instructions for wearing caps & gowns

Take your cap and gown home in order to make adjustments as to the length (9 inches from floor with shoes on). Caps are worn with the mortarboard flat on top. Loop your tassel around the center button of your cap. Use a clear piece of tape to fasten your tassel near the outer edge of the cap so that the tassel hangs along your right eye when the cap is worn. Nothing may be written on or attached to the mortarboard. Only approved stoles and cords may be worn.

Tickets

Six (6) tickets for the ceremony will be given to each student at the commencement rehearsal. No additional tickets will be available. Wheelchair accessible seating is available.

Graduation Diploma, Thursday, June 11, 2025

You will not receive your diploma or other graduation related items on stage at the commencement ceremonies. On Thursday June 11th between 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. Students will need to return National Honor Society stole and/or Capstone cord in order to receive their diploma packet.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

Keep this schedule and read the contents carefully.
Report where scheduled and be on time.
Commencement is a school function and you are still expected to abide by the code of conduct.
