    Unit 1 – Narrative Writing / Marking Period 1

    In this unit, students will focus on refining the skills and knowledge areas needed to compose their own narrative style writing.

    • Analyze literary works through close reading to understand multiple meanings and read to become aware of how stylistic effects are achieved by a writer

    • Connect writing skills to skills in reading, and write and rewrite in ongoing efforts to achieve stylistic maturity.

    • Use a wide-ranging vocabulary with attention to accurate denotation and purposeful connotation
