    Milford Middle School

We have established a school healthy zone committee. The committee has been known as the Milford Health Council. The committee consists of a number of staff members who meet regularly to discuss changes and new initiatives.

Milford continues to participate in the Great Milford Walkout.  There are two Walkouts that take place throughout the school year.  On the first Wednesday in October, students and staff walk the track in celebration of “Walk to/ Walk At” School Day.  On the first Wednesday in May, the event is repeated in celebration of Project A.C.E.S (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) combined with “Take It Outside” Day.  Both Walkout days are designed to encourage walking as a simple, yet valuable form of exercise. It is our hope to continue the tradition each school year.

In the fall, we celebrate Apple Crunch Day. Students help to distribute free apples during the lunch periods. The intent is to promote eating nutritiously, and to find healthier alternatives when choosing a snack.

We continue to offer healthier snacks in the vending machine located in the cafeteria.

The cafeteria staff has a bulletin board in the cafeteria to help promote nutrition, and update the available foods served during lunch.
