National Junior Honor SocietyHOW DOES A STUDENT QUALIFY FOR NJHS?
- The first part is academic and requires that a student obtain honor roll and/or distinguished honor roll for 4 marking periods. Out of the four marking periods two of them must be distinguished (a student must achieve an “A” in their core subjects (ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, Reading/World Language) and nothing less than a “B” in all the rest of their courses.)
- Once the student has qualified academically they receive an official application that looks at their activities.
School Activities, Leadership Positions, and Community Activities should have several entries. Activities should be varied, not just all sports or one community group. Each section is completed appropriately, signatures of all sponsors included.Personal Statement is well- written, clear and concise with valid reasons stated.
