    Initiatives to Promote Healthy Eating & Fitness

     

     

    Trumbauersville Elementary School

     

    Grade K – “Good snacks” are discussed during snack time.

     

    Grade 2 – One teacher promotes healthy snacks through modeling.  This same teacher also talks about sports and exercises with the students.

     

    Nurse – Dental lessons with focus on nutrition in second grade (as it relates to healthy bones and teeth).  BMI reports will be done for grade K – 4 this year.  Parents will receive nutritional educational material to promote healthy eating.

    Cafeteria – The following items are offered on a daily basis

                Salads

                Fresh fruit – apples, oranges, bananas

                Skim milk and 1% milk

                Vegetable portion is ½ cup
