Math24 Competition

Over the past several months, elementary students across the district have been sharpening and perfecting their Math24 skills. What is Math24? It is an arithmetic card game where students use four given numbers and basic operations such as addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication to make the sum of 24. For example:

5, 3, 3, and 6
5 x 3 = 15
6 + 3 = 9
15 + 9 = 24

Why have our elementary students been playing this game so vigorously? To prepare for the QCSD Math24 Competition, hosted by the Office of Teaching and Learning. The competition took place on the evening of May 13th at the Sixth Grade Center, featuring teams from all five of our elementary schools: Neidig, Pfaff, Quakertown, Richland, and Trumbauersville.

Throughout their training, schools held mini competitions not only to strengthen students’ Math24 abilities but also to establish their final teams of 10 and alternates for the big event.

On Wednesday evening, students took to the Sixth Grade Center gymnasium floor to begin the math battle. Each school started with a team of 10 until only four students remained.

Sixth Grade Center Gym filled with our Math24 teams, teachers and families.

We are incredibly proud of all our Mathletes. Your hard work and dedication earned you a spot in the Math24 competition, and you should be extremely proud of this achievement. We also want to send a special congratulations to the team from Richland Elementary, our top Math24 team, followed by QE, Pfaff, Trumbauersville, and Neidig Elementary Schools.

Amazing job, students!
