Happy Read Across America Week!

Today, we are highlighting Quakertown Elementary 2nd grader, Gabby, for sharing her book recommendation, "A Bad Case of Stripes,” by David Shannon.

“My favorite part is when she turns into a gumball machine!” said Gabby, and she immediately showed the illustration. Gabby explained that the story centers around a little girl named Camilla Cream, who loves lima beans but doesn’t want to eat them. And as a result, she starts turning colors! “My other favorite part of the book is when she grows a cat tail!”

Thank you, Gabby, for sharing your love of “A Bad Case of Stripes” with us.

Happy Read Across America Week!

Throughout the week, students across the QCSD will be sharing and recommending their favorite books as part of the celebration.

Today, we want to thank fifth-grader Amina of Pfaff Elementary School for sharing her book recommendation, “Dork Diaries 16: Tales from a Not-So-Bratty Little Sister,” by Rachel Renee Russell.
Amina shared that the book is told from the perspective of the “not-so-bratty little sister.” She recommends it because it’s interesting and fun to see what Brianna, the little sister, writes in her older sister, Nikki’s diary. The book is super dramatic and packed with humor. Nikki is dealing with school, her friends, and a huge scandal when her sister gets hold of her diary and phone. It’s a nonstop, funny read, and if you have a younger sibling, this book is for you!

Thank you, Amina, for this wonderful recommendation and for helping us celebrate Read Across America Week!

Happy Read Across America Week! Throughout the week, students across the QCSD will be share and recommend their favorite books.

Today, we would like to thank fifth-grader Ember of Trumbauersville Elementary for sharing her book recommendation, The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau.

Ember shared that the story takes place in an underground city where everything is aging and beginning to fall apart, and the lights may soon go out forever. Although she has not yet finished the book, she is eager to discover what happens next. Will the lights go out, or will the main characters save the day?
Thank you, Ember, for this wonderful recommendation and for helping us celebrate Read Across America Week!
